When Gabriel Performance Products purchased Occidental Chemical Company's Ashtabula plant in 2001, they acquired the expertise and facilities to manufacture mercaptan epoxy curing agents according to formulas invented and originally patented in 1966 by Occidental's predecessor, Diamond Shamrock Chemicals. For more than 40 years, using the same equipment, mercaptan epoxy curing agents have been manufactured at the plant. This continual capability, and the fact that Gabriel handles the major raw materials in bulk, makes them the world's expert in the manufacture of mercaptan epoxy curing agents.
